While Salar Bahrampoori was in front of the camera for the SRF program for seven years, Nicole Berchtold had it for 15. Now both are leaving almost at the same time. What does the broadcaster mean?

What’s going on in the Leutschenbach? More and more figureheads are turning their backs on SRF or rotating internally. After this was the case last year, especially in the sports sector, it seems to have recently hit the news division. This is also the case for the people and culture magazine “Faces and Stories”.

It was not until the end of March that the broadcaster announced Nicole Berchtold’s “G&G” exit, and now colleague Salar Bahrampoori (43) has also decided to leave the show. “Recent departures are not comparable. The reasons are as individual as the new challenges that each person has chosen. Apart from that, Salar Bahrampoori and Nicole Berchtold SRF will remain,” puts Gerhard Bayard, Head of HR and Change, into perspective. He also emphasizes that talented faces from the private sector have also switched to them in recent years. “And of course, when people leave, there are always new opportunities for others to present themselves to a broader audience.”

Flooded with follow-up applications

Editor-in-chief Paola Biason confirms that the “G&G” editorial team in particular is a springboard for young talent: “The proof is Jennifer Bosshard and Joel Grolimund, who started with us as interns and are now two established TV faces.” Finding new people for the departures is not a problem. We were inundated with applications for Nicole Berchtold’s vacancy. “Switzerland has a lot of moderation talents who would like to come to us,” says Biason.

Although melancholy resonates, the “G&G” boss is proud, because the departures are a further development of deserved moderators. She goes on to say: “Both are great talents and popular figures. The conversation also became aware of this, which explains why both also moderate programs there. I see Salars and Nicole’s change as the lot of a talent forge editorial team. With us you get moderation experience with hard work every day. But at some point you want to reap the rewards of the stressful daily news and host a big Saturday evening show.»

Without the new “G&G” concept, change would have happened earlier

Paola Biason denies that Berchtolds and Bahrampooris Aus might have their origins in the changed broadcasting concept. All four moderators welcomed the expansion of the 12-minute short format “Glanz & Gloria” to the 20-minute program “Faces and Stories” with a daily talk. In addition, they have grown. She is also certain: “If we were still the same short format, the change would have happened earlier.”

And HR boss Bayard does not believe that it is generally due to the media company: “The industry is changing. Cost pressure, digitization and new providers and platforms are topics that also concern SRF. Despite all the changes, SRF is an attractive employer that offers its employees a wide range of activities and opportunities for individual development.»
