The Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Juan Jose Bahillo, assured that the Minister of Economy and candidate for president of the Union for Patricia (UxP), Sergio Massa, “is thinking regarding lowering taxes on the agricultural sector and not raising them” and He recalled that the Government began doing it three months ago.

“I want to make it clear: Sergio Massa is thinking regarding lowering taxes on the agricultural sector and not regarding raising them. I want to bring peace of mind to producers, we are not thinking regarding raising taxes but regarding lowering them and we started doing it 90 days ago,” stressed the official in dialogue with Radio La Red.

He assured that “we are working and we demonstrated it with actions in the last three months. We lowered the rates to zero, we eliminated the withholdings to the regional economies, of peanuts, rice, wine, tobacco, citrus, and those are funds that remain in the sector for USD 190 million”.

He stated that Massa asked him for reports on the “projection of the evolution of agricultural exports”, which they estimate will reach US$52 billion in 2024 and this year they will end up at US$35 billion.

He also clarified that “the Government’s idea is not to tax and not include rural real estate in personal property.” “I clarify so that there is no confusion: local rural properties in the country are not going to be taxed, in any case rural properties abroad are under evaluation,” added the official.
