Bagnères-de-Luchon. Tribute to Pierre-Jean – ladepeche.fr

He was energy personified. Pierre-Jean Gonzalez Mayor has bowed out, leaving behind a number of friends, saddened by his sudden disappearance. Pierre-Jean was the president of the Jacques Sourth Dream School Foundation.

When the Luchon artist died, he moved heaven and earth to continue to keep his companion’s artistic legacy alive.

In June 2021, he came to the spa town, with the desire to donate to the town a collection of 33 oil paintings, signed Jacques Sourth. A donation which, he hoped, would be a first step towards a museum which might welcome the child of the country, this gavroche born on rue de l’Etoile.

Pierre-Jean also worked tirelessly in 2022 to offer Jacques one last exhibition, at home, in his house. The public was thus able to discover or rediscover the works of Jacques, installed in the magnificent glass roof room at the casino.

It was full of emotion that he welcomed the public that evening, with the feeling that Jacques Sourth had finally returned home. An exhibition prepared with incredible care, every detail being refined, as Pierre-Jean knew how to do so well.

He had even opened his memory trunk, taking the time to extract a few personal objects, reconstituting in front of the large fireplace of the casino, the office of the man who drew everywhere, all the time and whose fame had quickly ended up transcending borders. of the hexagon.

But now, in turn, Pierre-Jean has returned to the stars and left to join Jacques. No doubt he had grown tired of watching for his presence in the small signs of everyday life… He left his friends distraught, each trying to find comfort in imagining him discovering Jacques’ latest drawings, traced from the clouds. It is up to the town of Luchon today to prove itself worthy of the gift that Pierre-Jean had granted, by taking care of the works of Jacques Sourth, so that everyone can discover the world of this talented artist.
