In Part 1 of MBC’s special documentary ‘Baek Jong-won Becomes Mayor’, which aired on the 13th, Baek Jong-won was depicted as being disappointed by the hygiene management of the entrepreneurs while starting a project to revive Yesan Market.
On this day, Baek Jong-won donated a bathroom to be the first to achieve authenticity in the Yesan Market Revival Project. After gaining trust, he next thought of creating a theme with food, and the menu included chicken barbecue, anchovy noodles, chive mixed noodles, and stir-fried kkwi pepper chicken.
Baek Jong-won, who also conducted an interview with the founder, said, “The first condition is to transfer resident registration to the unconditional budget. “When young people move in, the atmosphere in the neighborhood becomes brighter,” he said. “The ultimate goal is that the population in the area should increase and people who will settle down for a long time should come.” Yesan residents may not like it, but we have to think about the future,” he said.
Above all, Baek Jong-won showed great support for entrepreneurs, from start-up costs to training costs. He said, “If possible, this market itself is trying to bring about price competition. Food costs are bound to rise due to start-up costs. “We are providing price competitiveness by supporting start-up costs,” he said. At the same time, he said, “You have to practice on a large scale, but people starting a business for the first time don’t do that. Because I have to throw it all away. So, we even supported the cost of practicing,” he added.
After completing the recipe transmission, Baek Jong-won visited again 12 days before Yesan Market opened for an interim inspection. Baek Jong-won, who first visited the stir-fried chicken store, immediately pointed out hygiene issues when the kitchen was not clean at the entrance. He said, “No, if this were my house, would I decorate it like this? It hasn’t even started yet, and look how it’s just collecting dust. This seems obvious, right? “If it were a two-person living room, would you use it like this?” he said angrily.
He continued, “It’s already been a while since we started. I guarantee you that if you start a business like this, you will sell to customers blindfolded. Then there will be rats and cockroaches running around and it will be a mess in two months. Then they will close the store. I’ve seen this a lot. Shouldn’t my soul go into it? Shouldn’t I make it my own? What do you do when you disappoint someone like this? “I haven’t even started,” he said.
The second noodle store was the same. Baek Jong-won said to the unmanaged food ingredients, “What are we going to do now? Look at every corner yourself. Can you see the dust or not? Are you going to do business like this? If you can’t do it, give up. Even now. If you don’t want to risk your life here, don’t do it. What is this? The basics are not there right now. “It will be the same everywhere else,” he said, expressing his frustration.
Meanwhile, when the owner of Stir-fried Chicken pointed out that the meat should not be put in a paper box but in a storage container, he made an excuse that he put it in the paper box because it was frozen even though he put it in the refrigerator and even though he adjusted the temperature. Nevertheless, the employees pointed it out once more, and the owner of Stir-fried Chicken eventually exploded, saying, “Honestly, what did you guys do for me? “I just tell you one recipe and that’s it,” he said. Employees also felt tension as the conflict deepened.
Fortunately, the owner of Dakbokkeum later sent a long apology text to his employees and said, “It seems like the explosion was caused by a build-up of hardships. sorry. He sent a message saying, “Get rid of your anger,” giving a warm feeling.
Afterwards, Baek Jong-won, who had a conversation with the founders, said, “I didn’t go to the butcher’s barbecue, but listen carefully. You have to be alert. I think I did it because I didn’t know. I think I should create my own menu first, but once you get familiar with the menu, you will do well. Anyway, “We made it easy. You can’t leave anything untouched. That’s how I can go to my store. That’s why I was so upset. If you do this from now on, you’ll be in big trouble,” he said, once again cautioning about hygiene.
Meanwhile, Baek Jong-won also behaved angrily with the market merchants. He attracted attention by visiting everything from kalguksu restaurants to Chinese restaurants and passing on his own recipes, suggesting his solution to captivate existing budget citizens and tourists at once.
