The 3D animation ‘Alps Candy’ has been officially invited to the Wide Angle section of the 29th Busan International Film Festival and is making its domestic debut. Ticket sales will open at 2 PM on September 24 (Tue), and a lively conversation with the audience and writer Baek Hee-na is anticipated.

The short animation “Candy”, which depicts the process in which Dong-dong, a boy awkward in communication, hears sincere voices through mysterious candy and finally understands the hearts of others and conveys his own, has been officially invited to the Wide Angle Short Film Showcase section of the 29th Busan International Film Festival and will make its domestic debut. Based on the picture books “Candy” and “I Am a Dog” (Storybowl) by Baek Hee-na, winner of the 2020 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, known as the “Nobel Prize of Children’s Literature,” the film is being produced by Japan’s largest animation production company, Toei Animation, raising expectations. In addition, the production team for “The First Slam Dunk,” which swept Asia with surprising box office success, has been formed, led by director Daisuke Nishio and producer Takashi Washio, who are representative animators and leaders of the animation industry in Japan. The ultimate dream team born in this way vividly realized the fantastic and unique world of writer Baek Hee-na’s works through 3D animation, winning two awards at the 25th New York International Children’s Film Festival, the Jury Award in the Children’s Short Film Category at the 64th Zlín International Children and Youth Film Festival, and receiving official invitations to prestigious overseas film festivals such as the 50th Seattle International Film Festival and the 57th Sitges Film Festival.

In particular, ‘Alsatang’, which will be screened at this year’s Busan International Film Festival, will be shown for the first time in a Korean version produced to commemorate its domestic premiere. Veteran actors such as actor Jeong Seong-hwa and voice actors Lee Hyeon and Eom Sang-hyun will participate in the Korean dubbing, drawing attention. In addition, after the film is screened on October 3 (Thu) at 1:30 PM at CGV Centum City Theater 5 and October 4 (Fri) at 9:30 AM at the Cinema Center Small Theater, there will be a richer and more in-depth behind-the-scenes story about the original work and animation with writer Baek Hee-na.

The 3D animation ‘Alps Candy’, which is raising expectations by heralding its first meeting with domestic audiences, can be reserved for the festival from 2 PM on Tuesday, September 24th through the Busan International Film Festival website.
