The Director General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, announced this on Tuesday February 15 in Brazzaville. “Over the next five years, we will mobilize Arab financial partners to contribute to the development of Congo,” he declared after a meeting with Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso. According to him, BADEA’s ten-year strategy will focus on four main axes namely infrastructure, agriculture, youth and female entrepreneurship, trade and public-private partnership. Sidi Ould Tah also said that his institution would set up budget lines in Congolese banks to help finance public-private partnership projects, especially those in the productive sector. The announcement of BADEA’s financial support is good news for the Congolese government given that the PND 2022-2026, estimated at nearly 900 billion CFA francs, presents a gap of more than 600 billion CFA francs to filled with the support of partners. Adopted last January by the Congolese Parliament, the PND gives pride of place to activities aimed at diversifying the Congolese economy, which currently depends on oil production. It focuses on the development of agriculture, industry, tourism and special economic zones.
