BADEA and its partners sign a Charter for the Global Coalition for African Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)

During a high-level BADEA breakfast, offered on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on June 14, 2022, a Charter of the Global Coalition for African micro-small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) was signed in particular by the Minister of Planning and Development of Côte d’Ivoire Mrs. Nialé Kaba who welcomed the initiative and encouraged the actors of the ecosystem to join their efforts within the coalition in order to amplify its ‘impact. Other signatories include: African Guarantee Fund (AGF), West African Development Bank (BOAD), Southbridge, Regional Stock Exchange (BRMV), Coris Bank International Holding, Association of WAMU Banks , Orange Bank Africa, Mazars, Blue Like an Orange, Smart Africa, Africsearch, Vista Bank. The signature of the charter remains open and continues at the convenience of other actors.

As a reminder, the Global Coalition for African MSMEs is an initiative of BADEA launched in November 2021 in Cairo. It aims to be a framework for consultation, dialogue and action to stimulate synergy in the interventions of actors committed to promoting MSMEs and entrepreneurs.

On the same occasion, the Director General of BADEA, Dr. Sidi Ould Tah announced three initiatives in favor of MSMEs. These include a recovery fund to strengthen the financial structure of MSMEs; a capacity building program for MSMEs benefiting from the recovery fund through the accelerators; and a guarantee assistance program in collaboration with guarantee and insurance funds on the continent. He also announced the forthcoming 7th edition of the Africa SME Champions Forum in October in Kampala, Uganda and a forum on ways to de-risk MSME investments and trade in November in Niamey, Niger. .
