Sunday July 10, a couple stops at the terrace of a hotel on the sea wall of Nieuport. They decide to order two 33 cl beers to quench their thirst. They settle the bill and then leave the premises.
However, when Saskia wants to make a payment on Monday, she realizes the problem: instead of the €7.60 that should normally have been debited, €760 is displayed! A simple typo would be the cause of the error.
“Fortunately, I had the good idea to keep the ticket,” explains the woman to Het Laatste Nieuws.
Their bank launched the steps, paying, to be reimbursed. Test Achats also looked into the matter.
For its part, the hotel has apologized but the refund will take several weeks: “Meanwhile, our standing orders continue and I have already had to transfer money from the savings account”, says Saskia.
The latter hopes that their story will allow other people to avoid this kind of mishap and that she will be more careful in the future.
