Jill Beckers is disappointed. And for good reason, this 21-year-old nurse liked to go to her Basic Fit room in Genk following her working hours, but now she can no longer, report our colleagues from HBVL.
“I usually work until late at night. When I finish, the club has already been closed for a long time,” explains the young woman.
One day in February, when she decides to go to practice following work, Jill finds the doors of her club closed. She then looks in her emails and finds a communication from Basic Fit.
“We are sorry to inform you that the municipality of Genk is asking to adjust the opening hours of our Basic-Fit Genk club”, then reads the young sportswoman. “As a result, this club will no longer be open 24/7 from today 6 February.”
“We have been receiving complaints regarding noise for months,” explains Jens Kowalewski, department head at the city of Genk. “We have asked Basic Fit to take action once morest these nuisances”.
Despite a discussion with the neighborhood, Basic Fit Genk had no choice but to adapt its opening hours. Determined to play sports and not lose her subscription, Jill Beckers turned to another room. “I’m going to Zutendaal,” she explains. “I will take 20 minutes by car…”.
