Bad news for Spa-Francorchamps: the Belgian GP could well disappear from the calendar in 2023

All motorsport fans in Belgium have already marked the date of August 28 in their diary. On that day, Formula 1 cars will be in action on the mythical circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. But this date might be even more important than the other years since it might be the last edition of the Belgian GP.

Indeed, according to information from Telegraaf, the Spa circuit would not be retained by the leaders of F1 in the calendar for next season, which should be published in the coming days. The 2023 season should have 23 or 24 races (it all depends on whether or not the Chinese GP will be held) but without the Belgian and French GPs, currently on the calendar. On the other hand, Monaco should indeed be part of the calendar for next season. For the Dutch newspaper, Spa-Francorchamps can still hope for a miracle in case the brand new GP planned in South Africa cannot finally take place.

F1 bosses have tried to build a more “logical” geographical and logistical schedule for next season. Thus the North American events should be grouped together in a block, while the Abu Dhabi GP should once more close the season.
