A spectacular accident happened on Sunday night in Bad Goisern. It was shortly following midnight when a woman driver wanted to turn her small car on a local road in the Goiserer town of Weißenbach. In the darkness, however, she went over the edge of the road and slid down a steep embankment to a stream with her vehicle. Luckily, the vehicle got stuck on the edge of the embankment, with one front wheel in the air.
The driver firmly applied the brakes and was just able to prevent a slip and a crash. In her distress she then called the Bad Goisern volunteer fire brigade for help. A passing firefighter on the way to the fire station first secured the car, which was in danger of falling, with his pickup truck and a rope, so that the driver might finally get out.
The actual vehicle recovery was then carried out by the Bad Goisern and Weißenbach fire brigades. With the help of a recovery crane, the car that had slipped off was carefully lifted back onto the roadway. The driver was unharmed.
