The cultural center “Die Bachschmiede” was opened in Wals 15 years ago. At that time, new life came into the old walls. The anniversary was celebrated with a colorful program.

The Bachschmiede recently celebrated its 15th anniversary as a cultural center with an open day and a festive evening. The impetus for this project came from Sepp Forcher in 1985. But it took until 2002 for the local council to decide to restore or renovate the Bachschmiede for a local history museum. Construction work began in the same year. And it would take until 2008 before the Bachschmiede could be officially opened on September 21st.

“It was a controversial project. The critical voices have now fallen silent and the Bachschmiede has developed into an event venue and respected museum that is well established far beyond the municipal boundaries,” says Mayor Joachim Maislinger, who was also the first managing director of the Bachschmiede. Around 30,000 visitors come to the Bachschmiede every year for a wide variety of events.

The anniversary was celebrated, among other things, with performances by storyteller Helmut Wittmann together with musician Albin Paulus, cabaret artist Edi Jäger and the “Blusnknepf” together with Gstanzl singer “Erdäpfekraut”.
