This year’s Bachelorette Stella Stegmann lives in Munich. She explains why she is in love with the city, but dating here isn’t that easy.
This year, in the new season of the TV dating show “The Bachelorette”, not only men but also women are fighting for the heart of a person: Stella Stegmann is the first bisexual Bachelorette. The 27-year-old was born in Frankfurt, but moved to Munich to study.
t-online: Ms. Stegmann, you were born in Frankfurt and now live in Munich. What do you like best about the city?
Stella Stegmann: I like that it doesn’t feel so big, but more like a small town, because Munich also has a lot of small neighborhoods. I also like that there is a lot of beautiful nature nearby, like lakes and mountains. Those are the things that particularly appealed to me at the beginning. I now have my favorite people in Munich.
On your Instagram profile, you share your love of sport with your followers. Where do you like to do sport in the city?
I really like going to the Pinakotheken to play Spikeball. Or to the English Garden, but it’s always very crowded in the summer. I think that in Maxvorstadt you can meet people in the park and do some kind of sport.
Not only are you very active when it comes to sports, you also enjoy travelling. Which places in and around Munich can you recommend for a holiday on your own doorstep?
I’ve already said that I think the lakes here are really beautiful and I love Lake Tegernsee. You can easily combine hiking and a visit to the thermal baths. There are also very nice restaurants and hotels there. Otherwise, the mountains are always a good idea. But city trips are also a good option. I think Nuremberg is really beautiful, for example.
You shared a video on Instagram showing how you train to hold a beer mug at Oktoberfest. Do you have a lot of Wiesn experience?
Before I moved to Munich, I had never been to Oktoberfest. I came to the city in September for my studies and then immediately worked at Oktoberfest – as a Mamarazzi. I took photos on site, printed them out and then sold them straight away. That was a lot of fun. I’ve been there every year since then. In 2019, I was a Wiesn Playmate. That was a very special time. I had a lot of appointments with Playboy, which was exciting because I hadn’t been in the public eye before. Last year I went to Oktoberfest with my parents, which was also very nice.
Let’s move on to the topic of dating: What do you think of the men and women in Munich? Would you describe them as conservative or open when it comes to relationships?
Sometimes it’s not that easy to meet a potential partner in Munich. I live in my bubble and I get to know great people through friends or sport. They are people who are open and often have the same views as me. Sometimes I get the feeling that some people in Munich are very conservative. I don’t want to admit it most of the time because I love Munich and my people, but there are also some who think very highly of themselves. I can’t identify with that at all. But Munich is also a very international city that is becoming more and more open. I’ve also met a lot of men in a very funny way. For example, on the bike when we rode next to each other.
What are your four favorite dating spots in Munich?
At home (laughs). It’s very nice here and I love being in my comfort zone. But a walk in the English Garden or along the Isar is also really nice. I also really like the Olympic Park.
And your favorite places to go out?
The “Aahhh” in the Werksviertel. There are always cool young people and good music. Or the “Café Joon”, I used to work there too, I love that. But I also really like the “One Nation” because they have really tasty smoothie bowls.
Thank you for the interview.
