In favor of the establishment of private non-profit universities, the emeritus professor of Linguistics, Giorgos Babiniotis, made the assessment that public universities have nothing to fear.
“The Greek public universities have nothing to fear” he emphasized and added “we will see if such universities will come, because they must establish three faculties immediately. They must have laboratories, they must have libraries, they must have one, evaluation for five years. All this is very difficult and costs a lot.”

The good universities and the non-profit ones, they would not get people on tuition fees alone.
Regarding the squats, he spoke of gangrene. “We are talking regarding strong universities with a very good staff, with a good appearance and there is a takeover by some, who, as a rule, 95% are not students and they come in and paint a picture of the university as completely discredited, whereas you have a university which operates”.
“We have to find a way to avoid these squats, to avoid decontamination, to avoid anything that damages the image of the public university. The public university has been discredited or degraded by such phenomena, which have nothing to do with education, the education provided by the University”, concluded Giorgos Babiniotis.
