Live music is experiencing a glorious moment and established bands can account for it. After his series of shows last year at the Movistar Arena and adding a practically silent date for this June 2, Babasonics he is preparing for a great challenge, probably for one of the most significant of his career. The band led by Adrián Dárgelos will perform on December 16 at the Campo Argentino de Polo and tickets for that recital with historical overtones are already on sale.

Babasónicos is going through a notable present since the release of their album Trench and its “XL” version, advanced trench. “Mimos son mimos”, “Bye bye”, “Anubis”, “La izquierda de la noche” (which was the first single) and “Nordic lie”, among others, came out of that vintage. The album earned him six nominations for the Gardel Awards, which will be delivered on May 16. advanced trench is nominated in the Best Album of the Year category, where it will compete with Ciro y los Persas, Dante Spinetta, María Becerra and Trueno. In addition, “Bye bye” is nominated in the Song of the Year category; advanced trench in Best Alternative Rock Album; its classic By the way, in Best Catalog Collection; Best Cover Design by advanced trench (Alejandro Ros) and Producer of the Year, Gustavo Iglesias.

In 2022, Babasónicos offered five shows at the Movistar Arena and embarked on a tour that has not stopped yet and is far from done. This year the band started it with a series of shows around Mexico, at this point their second home. In April they reunited with the Argentine public: Rosario and Villa Mercedes were the first stops and this Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th they will play in La Plata. Then they will travel to the city of Córdoba, to Río Cuarto, to Montevideo and on May 25 and 26 they will perform two very special shows. On those dates, Adrián Dárgelos, his brother Diego Rodríguez, Mariano Domínguez, Diego Tuñón and Panza Castellano will perform at the Lanús micro-stadium, the southern city of Greater Buenos Aires where they were born.

On December 16 it will be the turn of the Argentine Polo Field (Av. del Libertador 4096, CABA). Tickets are already on sale through areaticket.com.ar.

In May of last year, regarding the release of his new album, the critics of THE NATION he pointed: “Trench It’s more than just another turn of the page. The word chosen to title the album is linked to the place from which Babasónicos was in charge of sowing controlled chaos in the mainstream, either from the forms or the discourse (for examples, see the popularization of “Putita” in general, and its chorus in particular). And while the band’s work exists in its own container universe, not even that created world was permeable to a pandemic that put everything on hold two years ago. For the first time in their career, the band included death not only as a narrative resource, but as a topic that from one moment to the next became more and more real and more and more present”, wrote Joaquín Vismara.

Criticism also maintains: “In its own way, Trench is both a hedonistic and reflective album. Just as “Mimos son mimos”, “Paradoja” and “Bye bye” have the function of putting the dance as the center of gravitational action, later, the offensive trident of “Nordic lie”, “Ideological wood” and “Viento y marea ” concentrates the introspective flow of the disc, where finitude returns to take center stage (“I am only looking for the keys to Eden, even if my life is spent looking for them. You can take me as a wasteful, but let me tell you what I am: I am the one who keeps a dream alive for so long once morest all odds”).
