Babar’s fifty was wasted but Reza’s 79 runs worked

Pakistan Super League (PSL) Quetta Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi by 16 runs in the two matches played on Sunday, while Multan Sultans beat Peshawar Zalmi by 16 runs. Karachi Kings defeated by 55 runs.

Today in the first match played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 16 runs.

Quetta scored 206 for five thanks to a fine opening partnership of Jason Roy and Saud Shakeel, which Peshawar could not achieve and were restricted to 190 for six in the allotted 20 overs.

Roy (75 runs) and Shakeel (74 runs) gave their team an opening of 157 runs. Both played shots all around the field.

Shakeel was the first batsman to be dismissed in the 16th over, caught by Lockwood. He hit six fours and four sixes off 47 balls.

Roy was dismissed in the 18th over. Captain Riley Rosse scored 14 runs while Sherfin Rutherford scored 20 runs.

Peshawar K Salman Irshad took three wickets while Wood and Mohammad Zeeshan took one wicket each.

Peshawar started the pursuit of such a big target in a good way. Opener captain Babar Azam and Saeem Ayub added 91 runs together.

Sime was run out after scoring 42 runs off 26 balls in the ninth over. On this occasion, Babar continued to bat responsibly and took the score to 147 runs in the 16th over.

When he fell victim to Abrar Ahmed for 68 runs off 42 balls, Peshawar’s pace of scoring slowed down and the team managed to score 190 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.

Tom Koehler Cadmore scored 18 runs, Roman Powell scored 17 runs and Dan Mosley scored 11 runs.

Quetta’s Abrar took two wickets while Muhammad Wasim, Muhammad Amir and Aqeel Hussain took one wicket each. Quetta’s Saud Shakeel was declared Man of the Match.


Easy win for Multan Sultans

In the second match played today, Multan Sultans easily defeated Karachi Kings by 55 runs.

Multan Playing first scored 185 runs for the loss of two wickets in 20 overs thanks to the excellent batting of Reza Hendricks.

Reza shared 121 runs with David Mullan after wicketkeeper batsman Muhammad Rizwan (11 runs) was lbw for a total score of 17.

Malan was dismissed for 52 runs in 17 overs while Reza remained not out on 79 runs. He hit seven fours and three sixes off 54 balls.

Khushdal Shah was not out on 28 runs. In Karachi’s failed bowling line, Daniel Simms and Mir Hamza could take just one wicket each.

Chasing the target of 186 runs, Karachi’s opening did not go well and its two batsmen James Vince and Saad Baig returned to the pavilion for just 10 runs.

In the ninth over, captain Shan Masood was also caught out by Osama Mir. He scored 30 runs off 31 balls.

He was supported by senior batsman Shoaib Malik who completed his half century today. At one stage, he looked like Karachi’s big hope, but he was also dismissed in the 14th over.

In the same over, the wicket of Muhammad Nawaz fell, Karachi’s batting was shaken and they could only score 130 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Only three Karachi batsmen reached double figures. Muhammad Ali of Multan took three wickets while David Wali and Abbas Afridi took two wickets each and Usama Mir took one wicket.
