Karachi: Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram responded to the criticism against Virat Kohli. All the criticism against Kohli is unnecessary. Wasim Akram has suggested that the former India skipper will soon return to his best form as Akram says he is not interested in Kohli shining against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
“Criticism of Indian fans against Kohli is unnecessary. He is one of the best players not only of Kohli’s time but also in the history of cricket. One of the best fielders in the Indian team. It’s like saying class is something that lasts forever,’ Akram said.
Until the 2019 ODI World Cup, Kohli’s batting average was close to 60. But the star’s form has faded in recent times. Kohli’s average is only above 35 in ODIs after his last century. Akram also reacted to Babar Azam’s comparison to Kohli, although this is generally a good average but not great when compared to Kohli’s ability.
‘Comparisons are common. In our time, fans compared Inzamam-ul-Haq, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Even before that, this trend existed. Babar is a consistent player. Has physical fitness and enthusiasm to advance. But not to compare with Kohli,” said Akram.
