The INSAF party has nominated retired banker and economist, Dieng Adama Boubou, alias Garack, as the second candidate for deputy in the electoral district of Bababé. The other candidate is outgoing MP Sow Oumar, reappointed for a second term.
Contacted by the reporter from Calame, the candidate who had just returned from Bababé where he had just submitted his application file, admitted that the competition would be tough. “The opposition is strongly present – we respect in passing, all the competing candidates, on the one hand, and on the other hand, we must also manage the few frustrations of the candidates for the candidacy within our ranks”, he told us.
Now only the party has made its choices, continues Dieng, the emphasis must be placed today on the work of gathering and adhesion around our candidate lists, on the imperative need to respect discipline and to work for the landslide victory of our INSAF party.”
It should be noted that this INSAF candidate is one of the executives who have waited for their time for a long time.
Discreet in the local political arena, not without playing his part, DAB enjoys confidence and sympathy in his department. In 2019, he was sent as campaign manager for candidate Ghazwani in Maghama department; he achieves a satisfactory result in an area known to be difficult.
A native of Wothie, a commune of Aéré M’Bar, like former minister Thiam Diombar with whom he forms a solid political tandem, ABD has spent most of his career at the central bank of Mauritania (BCM). He held several important positions there, including 8 years as Director of Banking Supervision. He was then appointed administrator of the New Bank of Mauritania (NBM) in 2020, following disputes with the BCM.
