ZooActor Rana Daggubati said that he borrowed crores to make the super hit film Baahubali. In an interview to a national media, Rana said that the money was borrowed at 24 percent interest and he did not know what would have happened if the film had failed.

“Three, four years ago, Telugu producers raised money for films by mortgaging their houses and properties. It will be taken back later. Money is borrowed at an interest rate of 24-28 percent. This is how money is raised for films. For a film like Baahubali, Rs 300-400 crores have been taken – said Rana

Making the first part of Baahubali was a real struggle. The cost of making the film is double the collection received. 180 crores was borrowed at 24 percent interest rate over five and a half years. A few scenes of Baahubali II were also shot at that time. Rana added, “I don’t even know what I would have done if Baahubali had failed.”

S is 2015 starring Prabhas, Rana and Anushka Sharma. S Rajamouli directed the first part of Baahubali. The film collected 650 crores from the theatres. The second part was released in 2017. Made on a budget of 250 crores, the film has a global collection of Rs 1810 crores.
