Moscow. December 23. INTERFAX.RU – The second batch of table eggs from Azerbaijan in the amount of 306 thousand pieces was imported into Russia, Rosselkhoznadzor reports.

“On December 21, the second batch of table eggs from Azerbaijan in the amount of 18 tons (306 thousand pieces) was imported through the Yarag-Kazmalyar checkpoint for further sale in Russia,” the department said in a statement.

The first delivery of Azerbaijani eggs in the amount of 36 tons (612 thousand pieces) was imported to Russia on December 19.

The decision to open the Russian market for the export of food eggs from Azerbaijan was made in November this year following negotiations between the head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergei Dankvert and the chairman of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan Goshgar Tahmazli.

Imports are aimed at stabilizing the price situation in the Russian Federation. For this purpose, in particular, a decision was made to zero duties on the import of eggs in the first half of 2024. The supply volume might reach 1.2 billion units. The Ministry of Agriculture, as previously reported, expects egg prices to stabilize following the New Year.
