Azerbaijani ambassador claims attack by Armenian citizens on embassy in France

Azerbaijani Ambassador to France Rahman Mustafayev spoke about the attack on his country’s embassy in Paris. He called the attackers “Armenian fanatics”.

“Armenian fanatics living in France attacked the Azerbaijani embassy,” Mustafayev wrote on Twitter. He also complained that the French authorities do not properly protect the Azerbaijani embassy.

From the video footage from surveillance cameras, which was published by the ambassador, it can be seen how a group of 30 people gathered near the building, presumably the Azerbaijani embassy. Some of them have Armenian flags on their backs. Two men leave the group, pull away the fence that encloses the building, and strike at the windows and doors. However, after a couple of minutes, they are dragged away by other gathered.

On the night of September 13, Armenia reported that Azerbaijan had fired at its positions on the border. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan called this a response to similar actions by Yerevan. Armenia reported that 135 people had died in the fighting since 13 September. Azerbaijan reported 79 dead.
