Russia has invaded Ukraine for a month, but it has been unable to capture Kyiv. When Russia was overwhelmed, Azerbaijan invaded the pro-Russian Republic of Artsakh (Naka region). On the 26th, President of the Republic of Artsakh, Kazakhstan Arayik Harutyunyan sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin asking Russia to send troops to help him burn a candle at both ends.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have had a long-term military conflict. Most of the inhabitants of the Republic of Artsakh between the two countries are Armenians, and their positions are also closer to Armenia, so it has become a place of competition between the two countries. In 2020, the two countries clashed. Russia intervened in mediation, and the two sides reached a ceasefire agreement. However, the issues and legal status of the people in the Republic of Artsakh have not yet been resolved.

Azerbaijan invaded the Republic of Artsakh on the 24th and continued to expand towards Armenia, resulting in the death of 3 Armenian soldiers, 15 injuries, and 5 deaths in Azerbaijan.

According to the Armenian news agency “ARKA”, President Harutunyan sent an official personal letter to Putin on the 26th. He said that Azerbaijan has been expanding its military aggression since the 8th, but the amount of domestic armaments is insufficient and cannot stop Azerbaijan. Therefore, Russia is required to send more peacekeeping troops and armaments and take additional security measures.

The Russian side pointed out that Azerbaijan launched four drone attacks on the Republic of Artsakh and called on the country to withdraw its troops as soon as possible.
