Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Egyptian opposition politician and former presidential candidate residing outside Egypt, Ayman Nour, clarified his position if Gamal, the son of the former Egyptian president, Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, ran for the presidential elections in Egypt.
This came in a tweet by Ayman Nour on his Twitter page, where he said: “When someone tried to provoke a fabricated crisis between me and one of Mubarak’s sons by sending a trivial audio recording… I decided to respond to him by saying that I do not pay to fight battles by proxy on behalf of anyone… and I clearly said that I do not fight battles.” With those who left the circle of power..and I affirmed the right of any Egyptian to run in any elections, with my assurance that I do not trust Gamal Mubarak, and I will not give him my vote or my confidence, and this is not surprising…”
And he continued, saying: “But there are some minors from the letter of what I said and began to bid cheaply and he does not know or understand that I am the last person who can be bid on in the position on Mubarak!! Therefore, clarification and confirmation is required.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian presidential elections will be held in 2024, following the House of Representatives approved a legislative amendment to extend President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s stay in office until next year, while allowing him to run for a new term of 6 years.
