Ayiti Se MIKABEN: A Tribute and Celebration at Lincoln Center NYC – June 25, 2023

Evening of tribute and celebration of the legacy of Michael Benjamin (Micah) at Lincoln Center in New York.

At the initiative of curator Chriss Rimpel of RAD Muzik, an evening of celebration will be organized at Lincoln Center, in New York, on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 7:30 p.m., to pay tribute to the legacy of Mikaben, announced the family of the deceased in a message posted on their Facebook page. Several artists including Admiral T, J. Perry, Talie Cerin, Phyllisia Ross will be gathered on stage to make this evening a success.

“Join us in celebrating ‘Ayiti Se’ MIKABEN, a special tribute and celebration at Lincoln Center, NYC on JUNE 25, 2023,” the Benjamin family wrote to announce the news.

On the Lincoln Center website, details have been communicated on how to participate in this evening of tribute and celebration. “There are two ways to access this event:
1. General admission, first come, first served. Introduce yourself !

Several artists will be there: the dancehall artist born in Guadeloupe, Admiral T; singers J. Perry, Talie Cerin, Obed, Martine Marseille and Phyllisia Ross; DJ Stakz; former members of the Konpa CaRiMi founding collective Mickael Guirand ‘VAYB’ and Richard Cavé’; and Mikaben’s sister, Mélodie, and father, Lionel Benjamin Senior.

Recall that the date of June 25 would have been Mikaben’s 42nd birthday. He was a Haitian singer-songwriter. He was one of the most talented performers of his generation, especially for his national pride anthem, Ayiti Se (“Haiti is”).

Mikaben died suddenly on Saturday October 15, 2022, in France, in the city of Paris, at the Accor Arena, following an illness in the middle of a concert by the group CARIMI following having given a great performance to thousands of fans who came everywhere.
