Context of the transition to the new management structure
Since our creation in 2008 by a three-member team, our company has built a solid reputation participating in the development, manufacture and operation of nine microsatellites, including the world’s first Arctic sea ice monitoring satellite, WNISAT-1, and the first project entrusted by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to a space startup from development to operation, entitled RAPIS-1. Our company’s pioneering project, the commercial Earth observation constellation business “AxelGlobe” – the first of its kind in Japan – has expanded to a fleet of five satellites with the launch of four satellites in 2021. collaborative use with more than 80 partner companies worldwide and we provide Earth observation data to hundreds of customer companies for various applications. In order to further accelerate the social rollout of space utilization services using microsatellites, we are exploring the possibility of going public and have overhauled our management structure, starting with our new fiscal year – which starts on June 1, 2023 Under the new framework, we will focus on driving digital transformation (DX) to enable real-time visualization of conditions, enable informed business decision-making, strengthen our Human Resources (HR) functions to support the expanding our organization – which currently has more than 130 members – and preparing for future overseas expansion, adopting proactive security measures that improve the security and value of our operations, as well as promoting the rapid growth of the AxelGlobe and AxelLiner businesses .
Our company will complete 15 years in August this year. Under the leadership of the new management team, we will continue to work as a united team to pursue our vision of “Space at Your Fingertips”.
Additionally, co-founder Naoki Miyashita will now work as a researcher at the Intelligent Space Systems Laboratory of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Tokyo, the same laboratory that fellow founders Yuya Nakamura and Takeshi Eishima were once affiliated with, to conduct research on the architecture. of microsatellites suitable for mass production.
