Axa Switzerland: decline in premium inflows and results

This development is explained by the continued transition from the foundations of comprehensive occupational pension insurance to partly independent insurance.

Axa Suisse, a subsidiary of the French group of the same name, recorded, in 2021, premium income of 704 million francs and capital income of 519 million, down respectively by a third and 17%. This decline is explained by the continued transition from the foundations of comprehensive occupational pension insurance to partly autonomous insurance.

The operating result decreased to 110 (115) million francs. At the end of 2021, the transformation to the partially autonomous model was almost complete, the insurer said on Monday. Axa Switzerland has decided to discontinue occupational pension insurance within the meaning of the BVG in 2019 and to offer in future only limited cover for the risks of death and disability.

Last year, the number of corporate customers increased by 5.5% and the number of active (ie working) policyholders increased by 7.8% to more than 300,000. AXA Switzerland thus returned to its pre-transformation level.
