Alberto Fernández in China
The deliberations of the Third Belt and Road Forum “Together for common development and prosperity” began this Wednesday, following an opening speech by the host president.
In this context, Fernández is expected to be the first foreign head of state to present within the scope of this conclave in the panel “Digital economy as a new source of growth.”
After his speech, he will be received in a bilateral audience by Xi Jinping, to address issues on the work agenda between both countries within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that has the Belt and Road initiative as its central axis.
The presidential visit to Beijing will also allow both countries to announce the expansion of their monetary agreements, which has as a precedent the currency swap which allowed the BCRA’s reserves to be strengthened with yuan provided by the People’s Bank of China, the official monetary entity of that country.
“The central banks of the two countries have a parallel work agenda. On this occasion, they are going to activate the Memorandum of Understanding MOU (for its acronym in English), which has four areas of action: Economic Research, International, Superintendency and Operations , which includes the management of the ‘swap’,” official sources stated.
And in that sense they highlighted: “We have a part of the first tranche of the Swap that is available and we have been having conversations to be able to move forward with the second and they are advanced.”
Alberto Fernández, far from Massa’s electoral campaign
The Argentine president’s trip to China took him far from the end of the campaign Sergio Massa that seeks to detach itself from the image of Alberto Fernández.

The President lost prominence in his own government, so much so that days before the elections he is on a presidential tour, and the current Minister of Economy and presidential candidate took the reins of the ruling party.
