Kochi: The high court has directed that awareness on pox law should be made compulsory in schools. The court directed the public education department and CBSE to take a stand on the issue. The court also criticized the government for failing to create legal awareness among students. The court observed while considering the bail application of the accused in the Poxo case, a native of Palakkad.

The government has failed to create legal awareness among students. In this context, the High Court asked that schools be made aware of the Pox Act and the implications of torture cases. The High Court also said that awareness can be created among the students by including them in the curriculum or conducting awareness classes.
