Awarded to scientific research projects in Translational Medicine

The Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, and her peer of Science, Technology and Innovation, Daniel Filmus, participated in the award signing ceremony for the nine hospitals that applied to the call for Scientific and Technological Innovation Projects for Knowledge Units Translational Hospital (PICTO UCTH).

The Crossing Hospital received diplomas for two projects that were winners in the call for Research Projects for Hospital Translational Knowledge Units (PICTO-UCTH) financed by the Fund for Scientific and Technological Research (FONCyT) whose purpose is the generation of new scientific and technological knowledge .

The delegation from the HEC was led by the Director of Networked Patient Management, Dr. Martín Zubieta, and the CEMET coordinator, Viviana Fanessi.

One of the projects awarded is aimed at the implementation of precision medicine in patients with refractory epilepsy, candidates for surgery through the analysis of signals, neuroimaging and genetic data. The team that will carry out the project is made up of an interdisciplinary group of researchers, fellows and technicians from the Executing Unit and professionals from Hospital El Cruce, under the direction of doctors Silvia Oddo, Brenda Giagante and Silvia Kochen.

On the other hand, the project “Biomarkers of complex chronic diseases” directed by Dr. Alejandro Berra integrates the study and implementation of different biomarkers associated with a group of heterogeneous pathologies, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Systemic Sclerosis, Diabetic Foot Ulcers and Colorectal cancer. The responsible group is made up of Drs. Juan Garona, Carolina Dalmasso, Paula González, Karina Yonamine and Graciela Betancur. It also has a large team of collaborators including researchers, fellows and professionals from El Cruce Hospital.

This is the PICTO UCTH call, which will allocate the sum of $168,000,000 for the term of 24 months for the development of projects with the objective of strengthening in hospitals the capacities for the production of knowledge, education, training and implementation of results in health services. The hospitals that applied in addition to El Cruce were Garrahan, Posadas, El Calafate, Bonaparte, INAREPS, Oñativia de Salta, Mi Pueblo de Florencio Varela and Universitario de Maternity, Córdoba.

This new line of financing is promoted by the National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation, and the National Ministry of Health.
