Award for a Moroccan film from the “FIMI Film”

Moroccan director Hamid Basket won the best directing award for his feature film “The Silence of the Butterflies” during the second edition of the FIMI Film Festival for the Golden Film held in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia. The festival, which in its second session shed light on the phenomenon of violence against women and children, witnessed the participation of 3,000 feature films, long and short films, and student films, as well as films directed by people of determination and animated films from 125 countries around the world. The movie “The Silence of the Mattresses” came after a number of films by Moroccan director Hamid Basket, including: “The Labyrinth”, “The Last Scream” and “Fatouma”. It is starring a group of Moroccan cinema stars, including: Rachid El-Wali, Saida Baadi, Amine El Naji, Hafida Baadi and Sarah Perls. The film monitors the woman’s suffering with the violence of society through the role of “Malika” by Saida Baadi, a mathematics teacher who faces deep problems with her husband, as a result of which she was forced to pursue treatment with the psychiatrist “Omar”, Amin Al-Naji, who tried hard to draw hope in her to cling to life. The movie “The Silence of the Butterflies” was previously crowned with a number of awards, including: “Best Film” at the Rome African Film Festival, and “Best Actress” by Saeeda Baadi from the Mediterranean Film Festival in Alexandria.
