Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, said that the observed number of new coronavirus infections, which are currently recorded, are the lowest since the virus appeared in Egypt in March 2020.
Taj El-Din added, during a telephone interview with the “Good Morning Egypt” program broadcast on Egyptian television, today, Tuesday, that the percentage of severe cases among the injured is very few, “and previously we were talking regarding 85% of simple cases and 15% of severe cases, but this situation has changed.” Today, 99% of injuries are very minor.”
The President’s advisor stated that the demand for hospitals has decreased significantly, and there is complete control over the epidemiological situation currently, but the epidemic is still present in the world, and in China, America, Canada and European countries there are many injuries, and therefore it is required to continue to adhere to the precautionary measures.
Taj El-Din pointed out that vaccines and preventive measures have reduced the number and severity of infections, pointing out that the Corona virus will not disappear and will remain endemic like other respiratory viruses, and the World Health Organization will not announce its elimination, but with time it will announce the end of the epidemic.
