In Togliatti, the test assembly of new Lada passenger cars on the CMF-B modular platform has begun. February 9th AvtoVAZ I started running in the assembly of a new SUV under the Lada Largus brand, new generation Niva SUV and the second generation Lada Granta.
The development of technological processes began with the most affordable passenger car, which is still called “Grant-2”. After welding, the car body was sent to the Kalina UPC bath, where the Granta serial cars are being painted. After that, the body was transported to the Scientific and Technical Center of AVTOVAZ, where a ready-made prototype will be prepared from it. The entire technological chain passed through the so-called “bypass technologies”, as is done when preparing a production model, it is noted on the Avtograd News community page in VKontakte.
The prototype will have a whole range of tests ahead. The first production samples of the model on the new trolley will appear on the AVTOVAZ conveyor at the end of 2023.
The body of the new “Granta-2” with a quadrangular gas tank cover is slightly larger than the Granta, but smaller than the Vesta. The CMF-B platform will become the basis for all new Lada. They will share it with Renault Logan and third-generation Sanderoat the same time, Lada at a lower price will be even better than its “French” co-platformers.
For example, the next Renault Logan, like the Romanian Dacia Logan, will receive a liter turbo engine with a capacity of 100 “horses” or a tubed 1.3 liter engine. Such engines are now being installed in Russia on Renault Arkana. The Grants-2 will have the usual 1.6 and 1.8 liter atmospheric tanks under the hood. These engines are cheaper and more cheerful than turbo engines with a direct fuel injection system. However, Renault assures that their turbo engines are better than engines from competitors from Volkswagen and Stellantis groups.
