Avoided rabbits: 23-year-old crashed her car into the forest in the Mühlviertel

The 23-year-old from the Freistadt district was driving from Steigersdorf towards Lamm on Tuesday around 10.40 a.m. when a rabbit suddenly hopped onto the road in front of her car. The 23-year-old wanted to avoid him – but she got off the left side of the road. The car fell over a steep embankment, rolled over and came to rest on its roof. A tree prevented it from slipping further.

The young woman was hanging upside down in the seatbelt, but was able to call a friend on her cell phone. She came to the scene of the accident with her husband and called for help. The couple were able to free the 23-year-old from the car themselves. She was taken to the hospital, the Freistadt and Lamm volunteer fire departments recovered the car and cleared the scene of the accident.
