Some mothers usually shake the baby to stop crying and go to sleep, and this has serious health risks.

They also rock the child to get his laughter, lift him up and then lower him between the hands, just like tickling.

Violent shaking of a child leads to an injury to brain cells, with a lack of oxygen and swelling in them.

Where the infant has a natural fragility in the brain cells, shaking may lead to bleeding in the brain.

As for the symptoms and damages of shaking the child and raising him violently high, they vary according to the extent of the injury, and include continuous crying and vice versa. Lethargy, poor growth, weak sucking, loss of the ability to breastfeed, and pallor of the skin and lips may occur.

The child may have continuous vomiting, blue face, irregular breathing, nervous spasms and protrusion in the anterior fontanelle opening of the skull.

Movement weakness, pupil dilation, or unequal pupil size in the right and left eye may also occur.
