Avispa Fukuoka announced on the 29th that DF Takahiro Yanagi was arbitrarily investigated for driving under the influence of alcohol, and that he had canceled the limited transfer contract from Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo.

According to the club’s report, Yanagi has been drinking at home since midnight on the 26th. At around 8:00 a.m. on the following day, she drove to the clubhouse in her car with her alcohol content remaining in her body. She fell asleep while waiting for a traffic light at an intersection on the way, and a breath test by a police officer who rushed to her detected alcohol exceeding the standard value.

Yanagi will be arbitrarily investigated for violating the Road Traffic Law by driving under the influence of alcohol. After being interviewed by the police, the transfer contract with Fukuoka was canceled on the 28th.

Through the club’s official website, Takashi Kawamori, president and representative director of Fukuoka, said, “We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our sponsors, fans, supporters, and all other people who have been supporting our club due to this scandal. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused,” and pledged to take measures to prevent recurrence as follows.
