To UNITED STATES, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) chickens, ducks and guinea fowl have tested positive for the virus of the Avian Flu highly pathogenic in a live bird market in the Queens at New York. 170 birds died and the USDA lab confirmed the outbreak on November 12, 2022.

Since last year, theNew York State had 87 live bird markets, more than 80 of them in New York City. New Jersey has 36 more. Although poultry comes to market from all over the Northeast, most birds are raised on regarding 300 farms in Pennsylvania. The state is investigating the source of the virus.

All live bird markets in New Jersey were also tested for bird flu, and all were negative, the state agriculture department said. Despite these negative tests, 5 markets in New Jersey were at high risk due to detection in New York, and they elected to undertake an elimination protocol, which includes removing all birds from the market, cleaning and disinfection, the agriculture ministry said.
