AVEX: Non-oil exports reach 47 countries

***The president of the Venezuelan Association of Exporters said that the need to expand the business on an international scale also came from the migration of Venezuelans***

Gustavo González Velutini, president of the Venezuelan Association of Exporters (AVEX), said that Venezuela needs to export “because the country’s production capacity is much greater than its consumption capacity.”

He described as positive the fact that Venezuela has signed the Trade Facilitation Agreement with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the recent approval of the Law for the Promotion of Non-Oil Exports “complements this agreement.”

He said that the need to expand the business internationally is a consequence of migration. “What Venezuelan doesn’t miss that hot chocolate in the cold in Chile, the United States or Canada? It is part of our roots that we want to take abroad,” he added.

González Velutini said that production continues in Venezuela, so “it is being exported because the Venezuelan market was satisfied with good quality products.”

THE EXPORTS

Jesly Lusinchi, director of the Venezuelan Association of Exporters, said that Venezuelan seafood products such as shrimp, crabs, Venezuelan rum, textiles, radiators, among others, are “successful” in the international market.

In this regard, he said that “non-oil exports are reaching 47 countries, which means that there are companies that are making an effort, despite not having tariff preferences and not having all the free trade agreements.”

“We are exporting radiators, batteries, textiles, and we are also exporting aluminum and metalworking products,” he added.

He stressed that the Law for the Promotion of Non-Oil Exports will have an impact on the reduction of costs for the transfer of goods from one territory to another, as well as generating more employment and competitiveness in prices.
