Avenue Papineau closed towards the Jacques-Cartier bridge

Emergency work to repair a subsidence in the road forces the closure of Papineau Avenue between Sherbrooke and De Maisonneuve, towards the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, in Montreal.

“A subsidence in the roadway is not a big hole on the surface, regarding 10 inches, but the damage is deeper,” explains Philippe Sabourin, spokesperson for the city of Montreal.

City teams are currently working to excavate the area to be able to target the problem.

Due to its proximity to a building under construction and an aqueduct, the work must be done quietly according to him.

This work will last two days.

“The area will be heavily congested so we invite you to avoid the Jacques-Cartier bridge,” said Ms. Sabourin.
