Avengers 4: Endgame is coming to theaters soon, and now that Infinity War is over, we’re all wondering which heroes will be in the next round. Samuel L. Jackson has now commented on Nick Fury…
Attention, we have to reveal the end of “Avengers 3” in the article!
At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos (Josh Brolin) snaps his fingers, killing half the world’s population and half the life in the universe. Many heroes crumble to dust and are blown away by the wind – including Samuel L. Jackson (“Pulp Fiction”), who has been slipping into the role of Nick Fury in the MCU for a good ten years. However, we assumed that Fury would reappear in “Avengers: Endgame”. Now, however, Jackson surprises with a statement that raises even more questions.
Samuel L. Jackson: “No, I’m not in it!”
„No, I’m not in. No, why should I? I don’t have superpowers, I can’t fight. No, I’m not in‘ Jackson explained in an interview in the Jonathan Ross Show (via Metro.co.uk), when asked if Nick Fury has a role in Avengers: Endgame. So, according to the statement, Fury would not be among those of Thanos victims who can be retrieved by the surviving heroes however.
Should we really trust Jackson in this respect? Not much is known regarding the plot of “Endgame”, details are kept top secret. It is quite possible that the actor simply does not want to reveal how Nick Fury will continue in the “Avengers” series.
However, there is no question that there will soon be a reunion with Nick Fury in the cinema. After all, he plays a major role in both Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home. While Fury’s presence in Captain Marvel isn’t much of a mystery (the film is set in the ’90s, well before Endgame), things are a little more complicated with Far From Home. How the “Spider-Man” film is to be classified chronologically is not yet entirely clear.
When is Spider-Man: Far From Home set?
If Far From Home is indeed set following the events of Endgame, as producer Amy Pascal recently claimed, there is much to suggest that Jackson has been fibbing regarding his appearance in the next Avengers movie and Nick Fury shows up. Of course, it can also simply be that Fury only returns off the screen and otherwise relies on the skills of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) in particular. After all, he specially summoned the super-powerful heroine at the end of “Infinity War”. That he then reappears later in “Far From Home”, where he is needed more himself, might be quite plausible.
However, if “Far From Home” takes place before “Avengers: Infinity War”, as FILMSTARTS suspects, it is not surprising that Fury appears in the “Spider-Man” film and it might actually be that he also appears in “Endgame”. doesn’t matter.
Whether and to what extent Samuel L. Jackson is in “Avengers: Endgame” will only be able to be seen by cinema viewers on April 25, 2019, when the film opens in cinemas. Captain Marvel opens in theaters on March 7, 2019 and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 4, 2019.
