DARMSTADT/DARMSTADT-DIEBURG COUNTY (lsa) – During the Hessian autumn holidays from October 12th to 27th, buses instead of trains will run on tram lines 4, 6, 8 and 9 in sections. The L bus line will also be rerouted during the holidays due to construction work.
Replacement bus line 8E between Eberstadt and Alsbach
During the entire autumn holidays, buses will be used on lines 6 and 8 in the section between “Eberstadt Frankenstein” and “Alsbach Am Hinkelstein”. The reason for this is construction work on a railway crossing in Malchen and on the overhead line.
The replacement buses between Eberstadt and Alsbach operate as line 8E and run every 15 minutes Monday to Friday, every 20 minutes on Saturdays and every half hour on Sundays. The replacement stops are usually located in the immediate vicinity of the tram stop on the edge of the road. The “Bickenbacher Straße” stop has been moved to Alte Bergstraße (near Bickenbacher Straße intersection) in the direction of Alsbach and to Zwingenberger Straße (near No. 2A) in the direction of Darmstadt. Instead of the “Beuneweg” stop, the “Ortsmitte” bus stop on the BE2 bus line is served.
At the weekend: Replacement bus line 9E between Schloss and Griesheim
Due to bridge work, the replacement buses are running on lines 4 and 9 between the “Schloss” stop and the final stop “Platz Bar-le-Duc” in Griesheim, but only on weekends. During the week the lines run regularly.
Due to bridge work, there are three weekends during the autumn holidays – 12th/13th, 19th/20th. and 26/27. October – between “Darmstadt Schloss” and “Griesheim Platz Bar-le-Duc” buses instead of trains as line 9E.
Passengers can transfer barrier-free between trains and replacement buses at the “Berliner Allee” stop. Line 9E runs every ten minutes on Saturdays and every quarter of an hour on Sundays.
The following stops have been relocated as replacement services:
- “TZ Rhein Main” on the west side of the main train station in Zweifalltorweg
- “Maria-Goeppert-Straße” into Robert-Bosch-Straße at ESOC level
- All other alternative stops from “Otto-Hesse-Straße” to “Hans-Karl-Platz Am Markt” are on the edge of the road.
The “Waldfriedhof” stop is not served by the replacement buses, but rather by the HeinerLiner on-demand shuttle free of charge. Bookings to and from the forest cemetery are automatically shown as free.
It is not possible to take bicycles or purchase tickets on the rail replacement buses.
Moved stops on bus route L
Due to construction work in the intersection of Liebigstrasse and Pallaswiesenstrasse, line L will be detoured during the autumn holidays from October 14th to 25th. In the direction of TU-Lichtwiese/Campus, the “Pallaswiesenstraße” stop has been moved east of the Liebigstraße/Pallaswiesenstraße intersection. The “Kahlertstrasse” stop is located in both directions on Frankfurter Strasse at number 32; the “Klinikum” stop is no longer available.
