The auto industry showed positive signs of recovery in early 2023, outperforming the previous year. According to the first balance released by the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), an entity that represents automakers, the production of passenger cars, light utility vehicles, trucks and buses increased 5% in January, compared to the same period of 2022, totaling 152.7 thousand units manufactured.
Sales increased by 13% in the comparison between January 2022 and 2023
In addition, sales showed a significant growth of 13%, totaling 142.9 thousand vehicles sold in January of this year. Another positive indicator was the increase in exports, which increased by 19.3% in relation to the same period of the previous year. 33,000 vehicles were shipped to other countries, an increase of 5.9% compared to December.
Still according to Anfavea, automakers opened 230 job openings in January, totaling 102.1 thousand employees employed in the sector. With these results, there are expectations that the automotive sector will continue to recover and contribute to the recovery of the economy.
Despite the challenges, the auto industry has shown signs of recovery. The increase in exports is an important indication that the Brazilian industry is becoming more competitive in the international market, which can help boost the country’s economic development. In addition, the opening of new jobs in the sector is a positive factor, indicating that companies are investing in infrastructure, such as industrial painting, and in hiring new employees.
Optimism is explained by the recovery of the supply of electronics
Although the comparison with December has shown a drop in production (-20.3%) and sales (-34.1%), the perspective is that the recovery will continue, especially with the improvement in the supply of electronic components, whose shortage was responsible for paralyzing the assembly lines in the last two years.
It is important to point out that the shortage of electronic components has been a constant concern for the automotive industry in recent years. This problem has directly affected vehicle production, causing stoppages in assembly lines and delays in deliveries. However, there is growing optimism with the recovery of supply of these components, which should contribute to increased production in the coming months.
With the recovery of the automotive industry in early 2023, it is possible to envision a positive scenario for the sector, severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The increase in production and sales is an important indication that the economy is gradually recovering, even with the challenges posed by the crisis.
