The inspection of warning systems scheduled for March 1 will not take place in the Tomsk region, the regional administration said. This is due to “hacker attacks on the communications infrastructure.”

Earlier it was reported that a scheduled check of warning systems will be carried out in the Tomsk region on Wednesday, March 1, from 10:10 to 10:45. It was expected that electric sirens and loudspeakers would sound in the region, as well as the ether of all-Russian TV channels would be replaced and SMS notifications would take place.

“The comprehensive check of the readiness of public warning systems, planned this morning, with the launch of electric sirens and the replacement of television and radio broadcasts, has been postponed indefinitely. According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, comprehensive checks have been postponed due to hacker attacks on the communications infrastructure, ”the administration of the Tomsk Region said.

Recall that on February 22, in some regions of Russia, including the Tomsk region, an air alert and a threat of a missile attack were reported on the radio. The Ministry of Emergency Situations then said that this information was false and was the result of a hacker attack.

A similar story happened the day before, on February 28: in some regions, radio and TV channels aired information regarding the announcement of an air raid warning. The Ministry of Emergency Situations said that the information is false. It, according to the department, sounded as a result of hacking servers.
