Authorities promote river tourism and safety improvements in navigation

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Promoting river tourism and improving navigation safety in Paraguay were central themes focused on during the strategic meetings led by the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine with the General Directorate of Tourism Management of Senatur, the General Naval Prefecture, the Chamber of Commerce of Ñeembucú and Victor Gamero, port authority of Spain.

These initiatives seek to strengthen tourism infrastructure and guarantee a safe environment for river navigation in Paraguay, reaffirming its position as an attractive and safe destination for both visitors and sailors.

The director of the Merchant Marine, Patricio Ortega, explained that they are seeking to move forward by implementing specific regulations tailored to the situation of Paraguayan rivers.

He mentioned that this includes the regulation of embarkation and disembarkation points, the feasibility of ship prototypes, navigation schedules, tourist destinations and associated costs.

He also said that the priority areas are the metropolitan area of ​​Asunción, Alto Paraná, Ñeembucú and the Chaco area near the Carmelo Peralta bioceanic bridge.

Regarding navigation safety, special emphasis was placed on working closely with the General Naval Prefecture to properly manage unused or sunken vessels, adapting them to current sea conditions.

These meetings marked a crucial step forward in collaboration between tourism authorities, investors and regulatory bodies.

Carmen Silva, General Director of Tourism Management at Senatur, participated in these roundtables; Calte. Albino Bogarin Flor, General Naval Prefect; Victor Gamero, representative of the Port Authority of Spain and Attorney Jorge Gutierrez, head of the Chamber of Commerce of Ñeembucú, who referred to the interest in promoting river tourism in the region of Paso de Patria and Paso de la Patria, facilitating integration between the provinces of Argentina and Paraguay.
