Authorities identify shooter in Illinois as Robert Crimo

The authorities of Highland Park (Illinois) identified this Monday the suspect of killing six people and injuring two dozen in a mass shooting during a parade through the Independence Day like 22-year-old Robert Crimo, who was still considered “armed and dangerous.”

The man drives a silver Honda vehicle and according to the local police comes from the area, although they did not clarify if the young man is from Highland Park or a nearby town.

“We have a large number of federal, state and local agents working to apprehend this person,” a local police spokesman told a news conference.

Authorities asked residents within four blocks of the shooting zone to stay hidden until they can be evacuated by security forces.

The agents assured that they will soon reveal a photo of the suspect. They asked people not to try to get close to him if they locate him, but to call the Emergency Department.

Police representatives did not offer information on the possible motive for the shooting.
