The President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez, referred to the different violent acts that have arisen in the last few days perpetrated by the Clan del Golfo in retaliation for the extradition of Dairo Antonio Úsuga, alias ‘Otoniel’, to the United States.
The Colombian president assured that with the different situations that have occurred, the armed group intends to show itself to Colombians as a strong organization that, according to Duque, on the contrary, is getting weaker every day.
“The attitude that this group has taken is in the face of the impact on its structure, in the face of the blows we have given them, it is to try to generate intimidation through isolated and cowardly acts that seek to maximize through social networks and through media. communication”, assured President Duque.
Due to the violent acts that have affected the entire national territory, the Government took different decisions regarding the country’s public order, first of all, ordered the creation of regional search blocks against the structures of the Clan del Golfo, an organized search block will also be allocated.
“Perhaps the strongest that our entire country has seen, since the fight against the ‘Medellín Cartel’ and the ‘Cali Cartel’ to kill or capture alias ‘Siopas’ and ‘Chiquito Malo’. We are going to have the deployment of our wolves in the places of the territory where it is required, integral articulation of all the forces and very precise time lines”, assured Duque.
The Colombian president reported that the reward for information leading to the capture of ‘Siopas’ and ‘Chiquito Malo’ will be $5,000 million. In the next few hours, the Ministries of the Interior and Defense will have to present to the public opinion the recent search announcements against criminals.
On the other hand, the president ordered the mobilization of troops from the Army and the National Police to the most affected points in the country, approximately more than 52,000 uniformed men who will be in charge of guarding Colombians in shops and in areas that have tried to be altered by the Gulf Clan.
“In the corridors, intelligence and counterintelligence capacity will be strengthened, as well as the presence of helicopter-borne capacity. I want to be very clear with the Ministry of Justice, the entire process of pending extraditions of members of the Clan del Golfo will be accelerated. and a clear call is made to them, either they submit to justice or they will suffer the same fate as ‘Otoniel,’” said Duque.
The Government will also accelerate domain forfeiture processes of the property and real estate owned by this criminal group, a communications system will also be created to combat the strongholds of the criminal group in the most vulnerable areas.
“The order is very clear in terms of accelerating the destruction of laboratories and narcotics mobilization networks that this organization has, we want to continue exerting this pressure so that the mobilization, the caravans and the deployment of force allow us all to return to normalcy,” said the president.
The president reported that it is important that confidence be restored throughout the national territory. During the course of the violent acts, more than 80 captures have been achieved with which they hope to reach the different structures.
“We are not going to lend ourselves to the intimidating game of Clan del Golfo strongholds, they believe that, with these isolated and cowardly acts in different places, they want to generate a feeling of anxiety in the country, once again we are going to show them that the The State is above them, this display of force will mean that the Clan del Golfo falls completely for the little that remains”, concluded the president.
