Authorities confirmed this Friday that they activated the search for a peñero with six fishermen on board, which left La Ensenada de Playa Grande, in the Bolívar de Bermúdez parish, and has remained in an unknown location since last Wednesday followingnoon.

Coastal Surveillance carried out a search on the same Thursday in the vicinity of Los Testigos, close to the coasts of Bermúdez and Arismendi, without results.

The complaint was made by relatives and close friends, who specified that the “Los Delfines” crew left La Ensenada with six Playa Grande sailors on board, who reportedly drifted near Los Testigos.

But despite efforts to locate them, from Thursday morning until almost 9:00 p.m., there was no trace of the missing. A similar action was carried out this Friday, with fishing boats and Coastal Surveillance, without results following 5:00 in the followingnoon.

Unofficially, a Granada ship would have sighted and reported that the sailors were adrift in pimpinas, but when trying to locate them, no traces of the crew members of the peñero were found.

After 6:00 p.m. this Friday, relatives and close friends of the disappeared closed the Carúpano-Cumana national highway, near La Ensenada, to press for the search to continue on the high seas.

Coastal Surveillance, with the support of local boats, carried out a sweep in the area where the vessel was reported stranded due to a malfunction, but they were unable to find the boat.
