Austria’s cheapest electric car is experiencing its next spring

The Spring is the first fully electric car from the Romanian Renault subsidiary Dacia. More than 140,000 units of the vehicle, which celebrated its market launch in this country in 2021 and is produced in China by Dongfeng, have been sold to date, and more than 1,200 units have been newly registered in Austria.

It is interesting to see how previous Spring customers have used their electric cars in everyday life. According to the data collected via the vehicle’s networked systems, Spring drivers drive an average of 37 kilometers a day – at an average speed of 37 km/h. It was also found that 90 percent of all trips were shorter than 70 kilometers, and 75 percent of the time the electric car is charged at home.

Since the Dacia Spring has been on the market, it has been constantly improved, and has now had another facelift. Visually, the Spring now fully fits in with the family design language. The striking features are the more pronounced bonnet, a more robust, angular look, two black stripes at the front and rear, which are bordered by Y-shaped lights, and special stickers on the front and rear bumpers.

The interior has been significantly upgraded and is now more modern. The most noticeable thing is that the 10.1-inch touchscreen is now installed on the dashboard and is no longer integrated.

Shifting is no longer done using a rotary knob, but rather a gear selector lever is now available. A new feature on board is the regenerative braking system, which is controlled via the “B” mode in the gear lever.
