Austria’s most important sustainability prize was awarded for the sixth time.
Vienna (OTS) – On October 16, the Senate of Economic Affairs honored Austrian sustainability pioneers in the plenary hall of Parliament in the presence of the President of the National Council, Wolfgang Sobotka. Every year, organizations, projects and initiatives are honored that demonstrate an exemplary commitment to improving the living conditions of our society within the framework of the global Sustainability Goals (SDGs).
„Despite geopolitical challenges and numerous crisis situations, compliance with the United Nations’ sustainability goals is an important task. They secure and create an indispensable basis for a planet worth living in. For me it is therefore a matter of course that the National Council will once more be hosting the Austrian SDG Awards gala this year. The parliament itself is considered the republic’s flagship project for climate-friendly renovation and observes the principle of sustainability in ongoing operations
”were the opening words of the President of the National Council Wolfgang Sobotka.
Hans HarrerChairman of the Senate of Economics, emphasizes: “Together we are navigating change – not just in the economy, but also for our environment, our country and our society as a whole. The SDGs serve as a compass and GPS to ensure that we stay on the right course, without viewing them as dogmas or hard and fast rules. With the Austrian SDG Award, we have set the course for significant change and demonstrate that we are moving forward on a promising path by using the SDGs as guiding principles and not as rigid regulations

Over 200 submissions
More than 200 submissions were viewed and evaluated by the Alliance for Ethics in Business, an initiative of the Senate of Economics, Quality Austria and planetYes. The submitted projects and actions are characterized by their outstanding ability to integrate the UN Sustainable Development Goals into their operations in a deep and comprehensive way, thereby advancing the achievement of one or more SDGs in an exemplary manner.
Günter BergauerChairman of the Alliance for Ethics in Business, emphasizes the importance of the sustainability goals: “The 17 Sustainable Development Goals affect everyone around the world. Our common basis of life must be preserved and passed on. If we want to help shape the future, we must recognize that we can only solve the current challenges together.
