Sustainably built with reuse and recycling: impressive architecture “Made in Austria”

Vienna (OTS) The Grande Armée office building in France receives the AGPB Award 2023: An impressive and energy-efficient prime example of the reuse and recycling of building materials in the sense of the circular economy shines with architectural sophistication in bronze and concrete.

The former Peugeot Citroen headquarters were to be demolished, but the city of Paris intervened. Instead, an iconic redefinition followed by Baumschlager Eberle Architekten in the spirit of the circular economy: the preservation of the building structure with its striking facade was the focus of the design. Over 90 percent of the building material demolished in the process was reused, e.g. B. in the floor of the gallery on the ground floor. Green roof gardens, photovoltaics, flexible office space, an open “Agora”: The “Grande Armée” is completely convincing in the broad spectrum of what sustainable building means.

Austrian Green Planet Building® (AGPB) honors the outstanding achievements of Austrian companies in the field of sustainable construction abroad. The focus is on energy efficiency and supply with renewable energies. AGPB is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology as well as ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA and transfers the criteria of the national climate protection initiative klimaactive for the construction and real estate industry in the international environment.
