Vincent Kriechmayr is slowed down by the Austrian authorities.
After the corona shock due to a positive test, Austria’s speed star Vincent Kriechmayr (30) wanted to test himself free for the Lauberhorn downhill run. That would actually have worked.
After a negative test in his home in Upper Austria, the FIS gave him a start permit. The Wengen would also have been open to the downhill world champion if they had provided him with an accreditation.
But the Austrian authorities are now making the speed star a spanner in the works. You don’t let him out of quarantine. And because he cannot take part in the final training, the Lauberhorn races will take place this year without the 2019 winner.
The ÖSV is now hoping that Kriechmayr will still be able to get out of quarantine during the day and thus at least be able to compete in the Super-G on Thursday. (MWP)
